Start with the mounting centers
Bridge faucet hole spacing is the distance between the centers of the hot and cold mounting holes. It is not the distance across the outside edges of the escutcheons. Two faucets can look very similar above the deck while requiring different mounting positions below it. If your sink already has holes, record the actual pattern before shopping.
Measure an existing sink
Identify the center of each supply mounting hole and measure between them in a straight line. If the installed faucet hides the holes, do not estimate from the visible handle ends: decorative handles can extend well beyond the mounting points. An installer may need to inspect below the sink or remove the old fixture. Also record the hole diameter, surface thickness and any separate sprayer opening.
Compare the complete installation
Match your measurements to the drawing for the exact faucet and set option. Check whether the mounting arrangement is fixed or adjustable; do not assume either. Allow room for the handles to turn beside the backsplash, and for the mounting hardware and supply lines below the deck. A matching center distance alone does not establish a complete fit.
Before drilling a new worktop
Choose the sink, faucet and optional sprayer together. Have the installer confirm the final drawing and ideally check the actual components before irreversible drilling. Keep a dated copy of the selected variant and dimensions. A photograph is useful for explaining the layout, but it is not a drilling template.
A common question.
Can I measure from the outer edges?
Use the centers. Outer-edge measurements are affected by the hole diameter and decorative plates and can lead to a wrong match.
