Find the correct measurement points

Spout reach is normally a horizontal measurement from the mounting reference to the outlet, but confirm how the product drawing defines it. Outlet height differs from overall height. Compare like measurements rather than matching a headline dimension to an unrelated distance on your sink.

Plan the landing area

Measure from the intended faucet location toward the usable bowl area. The outlet should direct water comfortably inside the basin rather than close to the rim. There is no universal landing point that suits every bowl shape and task. A divided sink, sloping basin and unusual drain position deserve a closer layout check.

Consider the stream and the bowl

Basin depth, water flow and outlet position influence splash. Extra height can make space for cookware but can also change the stream's fall. A long reach may help in one sink and extend too far in another. Do not judge a faucet's suitability only from a wide kitchen photograph.

Make a simple physical layout check

Mark the proposed outlet position on a sketch or temporary guide above the sink and assess hand and cookware space. Do not use an illustrative photo as a technical template. Verify the actual drawing, handle movement and connections with the installer before the worktop is drilled or the faucet is ordered.

A common question.

Should the stream always hit the drain?

Not as a universal rule. The appropriate landing area depends on the basin and use; confirm a comfortable position within the bowl with your installer.

Take the next step.

Use the kitchen faucet buying guide to put this decision into the wider room plan. Then compare kitchen faucets using the exact selected configuration and current product information.
